Excellent -- highly recommended for anyone with strait hair and a Western/European hairstyle, as I do.
I have a "Viking"-style haircut: very short sides, with the top very long and brushed straight back (see before and after pics below). Long beard completes the Viking look.
There are not a lot of Vikings on Kenya, so I could not expect the average Nairobi street barber to give me the cut I wanted. Also, I had not had a haircut for five months, so the style was muted by time.
Asking ChatGPT to find me a barber experienced in cutting Western/European hairstyles turned up three recommendations. I liked Mendela best, due to prior reviews and his Shopify-powered booking system.
Mandela, the owner (pictured below) did a great job, in my opinion -- but don't take my word for it! Look at the before and after pictures and decide for yourself. Yes, my hair is arguably too long in the back. That's because I am growing it out to eventually tie it off.
Careful haircut with trimmer, scissors, and razor. Shave. Hot towels. Trimmed the beard a bit (removing split ends).
All in all, an excellent and careful job. Priced at 2000kes; gave a fat tip to recognize excellent craftsmanship. - Jim Plamondon·
Excellent -- highly recommended. I came in with a five-month-old, overgrown Viking-style cut, and left with an impeccable Viking-style cut: very short sides, very long on top, brushed straight back, with a tiuch of clay to hold the long hair in place.
Not a lot of Vikings in Kenya.
Not something the typical Nairobi street barber would know how to do properly! - Fabio·
Great service with an eye to the details. I can highly recommend.
